My name is Crystal Lee (she/her) and I offer writing for job seekers on Vancouver Island and beyond. Check out my services below and get in touch to learn more!
Professional branding that attracts new opportunities
Is this you?
You have a wide range of experiences, but you have trouble showcasing your unique fit for a desired role. Maybe you’re looking to make a career change, maybe you’re searching for a job in a new city, or maybe you’re shooting for a promotion. Whatever the situation, you just can’t seem to catch a break.
The problem has less to do with your abilities, but more to do with how you’re approaching your job search and telling your career story.
How I help
I take the time to get to know you and your goals. Together, we craft a professional brand that feels authentic and aligned with your current stage in life and work. Along the way, I provide guidance on how to leverage online and offline networks to strengthen your brand so you’ll find exciting, new opportunities!
Depending on each situation, our collaboration may include:
- Updating your LinkedIn profile, resume, cover letter, and/or portfolio
- Coaching on how to leverage social media in professional networking
- Drafting outreach messages to connect with like-minded people and allies
- Preparing for coffee chats or informational interviews
- Practicing personal introductions or elevator pitches
- Writing follow-up messages to nurture relationships and opportunities
Job applications that see results
Is this you?
You’re sending out dozens of job applications but you’re not getting a reply. Doubts start to creep in. Are you not good enough for these roles? Should you switch directions? It feels impossible to know what to do when you don’t have any feedback.
How I help
I’ll give you honest feedback. As a writer and career coach, I’ve worked with hundreds of job seekers. I’ve also been on the other side of the hiring process and know what mistakes can cost a callback. Let me give you practical advice on how to improve your job application.
My process involves:
- Getting to know your history, skills, and aspirations
- Understanding your target job roles and companies
- Reviewing your current resume and cover letter
- Feedback and proofreading through several rounds of revisions
FAQ: Do I write resumes?
I provide sample wording and resume formats but I don’t usually write a full resume from scratch. This is because I believe every job seeker should know their resume well enough to explain each point during an interview.
If you have an older resume and want to update it with new content, then yes, I can help with minor changes like that.
In addition, I offer executive resume writing services for folks in leadership positions who can speak confidently about their accomplishments but lack the time to write a resume.
Wordsmithing is so important in searching for work, and Crystal has a keen ability to offer thoughtful and concise feedback and suggestions for resumes, profiles, and websites. She’s really helped me reach out to contacts in search of opportunities feeling confident and proud of what I offer.
