Marketing made easy for business owners

I helped a realtor establish her brand as a luxury home specialist on mid-Vancouver Island by highlighting her real estate expertise through monthly email newsletters, community events, and keyword-targeted website copy.

The email newsletters reach over 1,000 prospects and past clients each month. To engage with audiences who may or may not already own a home on Vancouver Island, the emails combine seasonal tips for homeowners, spotlights on local businesses and events, as well as current market trends. I support content curation, copywriting, image selection, and Mailchimp scheduling. View newsletter sample.

Community events are an effective way to establish trust through education. I helped to launch Island Living Today, a monthly online series where expert guests share valuable insights with homeowners on Vancouver Island. I manage all event marketing and communications with guest speakers. I also created a video intro for the virtual talks, including writing the script, securing a voiceover talent, and overseeing the video production. View event marketing and scriptwriting sample.

To raise my client’s online profile, I wrote the copy for six web pages. Each highlighted a geographical area where my client conducts real estate activity, written to target location-based keywords for search engine optimization (SEO). View website copy sample.

Enhanced capacity for marketing teams

I helped a small business strengthen its brand as a values-led communication design agency by unifying its voice across social media, blog posts, case studies, email newsletters, and a new lead magnet.

I added writing capacity to iilo Creative Alliance’s internal marketing team by partnering closely with a marketing strategist, graphic designer, project manager, editor, and creative director. Together, we produced a Content Style Guide to serve as a reference document for all team members and rolled out new systems to support sustainable marketing efforts.

The company is a certified B Corp driven by sustainable communication design principles. We produced a free Sustainable Branding & Design Toolkit to serve as a lead magnet that not only demonstrates iilo’s expertise, but also captures the contact information of values-aligned audiences. I wrote the copy for a 13-page document, which includes a checklist, examples of design principles in action, and a sales sheet, along with an email sequence following the lead magnet sign-up. For social media, I crafted captions for LinkedIn and Instagram posts, identified hashtags, as well as wrote scripts and recorded voiceovers for Instagram reels. I shifted the tone of voice for different post types to facilitate engagement on different platforms. To support accessibility, I also wrote image descriptions and alternative text which helps relay visual content to folks who use assistive technology. View Instagram reel sample.

Case studies are an effective way to demonstrate client satisfaction and attract new business. I wrote clear and succinct case studies that showcase the impact of iilo’s work, so readers quickly grasp the value of working with the team. View case study sample.

Regular blog posts keep a website fresh and enhance SEO and engagement. The most effective posts deliver value to readers, include strategically placed keywords, and build a brand’s trust and authority. For iilo, I wrote a range of blog posts including a new “Meet the team” series, an annual benefit report, and education on communication design best practices. View blog post sample.
