My name is Crystal Lee (she/her) and I use the power of words to help people communicate more clearly, connect more meaningfully, and find more opportunities.

Getting creative with words since I was young

I still recall how my brain tingled with delight when my grade school teacher asked my computer typing class to write a descriptive introduction for a short story. My teacher peered over my shoulder to see what I had typed on my black-and-white Macintosh screen and read the first paragraph aloud for the class.

To hear my depiction of a dilapidated house (the intro for a horror story) be shared with an audience made my heart skip a beat. To this day, I’m still exhilarated by the writing process and the power of connecting with others through words.

Diverse skills and experiences enrich my writing

I’ve done a lot of different things since writing amateur short stories in school.

I studied Cell Biology and Genetics (Bachelor of Science major) and Asian Studies (Arts minor) at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Then I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Master of Public Health degree in Community Health Sciences.

In 2014, I became a professional coach after completing a 200-hour certification program with Coaches Training Institute, a global leader in the coaching profession. As a result, I’m skilled at drawing out someone’s inner wisdom even when they don’t have clear words for what they’re thinking and feeling. This step is key to a collaborative writing process!
