Are you a go-getter? You’re focused. You have clear goals. You act with purpose. Stopping is not an option.
It’s great that you’ve found your purpose! I’m cheering for you. And because I want you to succeed, here’s a tip to help get you where you want to be: Pause.
Why pausing is awesome
Pausing is temporary.
Pausing is not stopping. You don’t have to feel bad about it. Just as your muscles benefit from a rest day between workouts, your drive and determination can benefit from a pause between all your go-getting action. So go ahead! Let yourself pause for a moment.
Pausing lets you reflect.
Pausing lets you look beyond the daily grind and see the bigger picture. It’s the perfect opportunity to reflect and reap learnings.
- Where are you now?
- Where were you before?
- How did you get here?
- How did you show up to make this happen?
- What were your top celebrations?
- What were your top challenges?
- What have you learned?
Pausing helps you recalibrate.
Pausing to reflect helps you make necessary adjustments. Are you still headed towards where you want to go? Are you still being the person who you want to be? Yes or no, pausing guides you towards what’s relevant and meaningful to you now. And if your direction has changed, that’s okay! Better to recalibrate now than when you’ve veered even further off course.
Pausing taps into the power of appreciation.
When you pause to reflect and recalibrate, you’ll notice what has contributed to your successes and learnings. Whether they are people who have supported you, hurdles that have helped you grow as a person, or moments when everything fell into place – they all promote appreciation and drive you forward with greater wisdom, hope, and determination. It’s powerful. Harness it.
